ABOUT ASHLEY
My approach to therapy is relationally driven and informed by psychodynamic, somatic, and attachment based theories as well as IFS (Internal Family Systems). I often work with individuals who struggle with food and the relationship to their bodies, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles and chronic beliefs that perpetuate feelings of inadequacy & loneliness.
I work intuitively and creatively, and do my best to listen for what is spoken without words. I have found that when we can move out of the “thinking mind” and into our somatic experience, we can really catalyze insights and shifts in our behavior. Some of the tools that I lean on to guide us include my certifications in EMDR, Embodied Eating Disorder Recovery, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (“Tapping”).
Alongside my passion for psychotherapy, I have provided small business development and management for over a decade. Most recently, I served as the Managing Director at Erika Malm Collective, where I provided clinical training to fellows and supported the growth of a community that aligns with my deepest values.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University and completed advanced Eating Disorder training from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia and The Embodied Recovery Institute. I have completed trainings in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), & EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
I am licensed to practice psychotherapy as an LMHC in the state of New York under license #008481.
