Eating Disorder Treatment

Good enough.

If you struggle with an Eating Disorder or your relationship to food and your body, you’re probably familiar with this phrase and have questioned your own enoughness. An Eating Disorder often promotes the belief that your value is conditional on being or looking a certain way.

The truth is though, you are already completely enough. It’s one of those things that is just a constant and always whole. There is no size or diet that can change it.

So let’s help you embody your enoughness.

Through an embodied lens to recovery, my approach to Eating Disorder treatment is grounded upon intuitive eating, health at every size and is somatically integreated. I believe that an Eating Disorder is your body’s way of expressing something it does not have the words or understanding for yet. Together, we’ll listen deeply and help you identify what your body needs to feel safe so you can nourish yourself regularly and without guilt. We will connect with other parts of yourself so you can begin shifting behavior and cultivating a peaceful relationship with food. I work with a range of struggles including Anorexia, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating , Excessive Exercise and Emotional Eating. I collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure a holistic treatment and believe that a team approach works best to support you in shifting the behaviors that reinforce eating-disordered beliefs.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Sometimes our past can feel like a shadow lingering in the present. You might be feeling stuck with complicated emotions, anxiety or unhelpful beliefs despite having a strong understanding of yourself.

When we experience trauma, our bodies become overwhelmed with survival mechanisms that get in the way of our emotional processing. When we’re feeling safe & connected, our bodies are able to guide us and reconnect us with the wisdom of the present.

By leaning on the resources that already exist within you and the safety of the therapeutic relationship, EMDR allows our nervous system to process painful experiences so that the healing process can resume. I offer EMDR to individuals as adjunctive to their primary therapy or as part of a more comprehensive treatment.

Anxiety and Depression

If you struggle with anxiety or depression, you may be feeling like one or both of these feelings are overpowering your felt experience in the world.

When it comes to anxiety, sometimes it manifests in our minds - with racing thoughts and chronic worries. Other times, anxiety feels more visceral and is sensation based. Living with depressive feelings can cast a cloud of loneliness and sadness that impacts our participation in our lives the way we want to. Whatever you’re struggling with - therapy helps to identify tools to tolerate your emotions, regulate your mood and start living with more ease and connection. I utilize my training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, and Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to help us identify what coping strategies will work best for you. Alongside these tools, we can work together to understand the origin of your anxiety and depression and create space for a full range of emotions.

Relationship Issues

Do you find yourself dating the same “type” over and over again? Are you struggling with the same chronic feelings in different relationships? Therapy can help make sense of chronic relationship patterns and help you approach this area of your life from a place of empowered understanding. We will examine your relationship history, including the one you have with yourself. Alongside this understanding, we will help you to shift beliefs and behaviors so you can feel free to show up for yourself and others as your fullest self.
